| In 1889, Mollie Austin asked her husband James if he knew of a better rug cleaner, James decided to make his own cleaner. After many versions, and Mollie's approval Austin's Carpet Cleaner was born. | ||||
| Cooking the formula on the kitchen stove, James sold his product out of his Pittsburgh, PA grocery store. By word of mouth, others asked for Austin's Carpet Cleaner; planting the seed for what is today a fourth generation family company that manufactures a wide variety of household and institutional cleaning products.
Certainly Mollie and James would be proud of today's fourth generation of Austin's who still uphold the family motto: "Produce quality products for people and they'll come back." |
